The Graphic Design program at the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts of the University of Pécs – whose Faculty celebrates its 30th anniversary this year – offers a creative environment where classical fine arts foundations are seamlessly integrated with contemporary design approaches. The stable academic background of Hungary’s first university, along with its international network and interdisciplinary collaborations, ensures that students’ work remains in continuous dialogue with evolving technologies, visual culture, and social processes.
At the core of the program is the development of an individual visual perspective alongside the acquisition of practical experience. Students work under the guidance of recognized professionals while actively engaging in real-world projects, exhibitions, and professional collaborations throughout their studies. The faculty’s interdisciplinary artistic approach enables graphic design students to think and create in collaboration with peers from other artistic disciplines.
The Graphic Design specialization provides comprehensive knowledge across various fields of visual communication, ranging from typography and identity design to editorial and poster design, illustration, and interactive media. The program aims to educate autonomous creators equipped with solid professional expertise, critical thinking skills, and a well-defined design attitude. Graduates are not only capable of solving applied graphic design tasks, but also of reflecting on contemporary cultural and social issues through their own visual language, becoming active contributors to the shaping of visual culture.
